A Note about the Summer Season

The rising temperatures and longer hours of daylight mean something big to the movie goer: the summer blockbuster season is upon us.  This typically runs May - August and studios shoot off as many of their fireworks as possible.  And many of these fireworks I do enjoy watching.
This summer’s must see list includes Ironman 3, Star Trek Into Darkness, Man of Steal, and as always the Pixar flick.  This year’s a prequel to Monsters Inc, which is my favorite of the Pixar flicks to date, Monsters University.
I do enjoy going at midnight and being one of the first to see the new summer blockbuster.  It’s a big thrill for me and most of the summer flicks I do enjoy.
The movies that I tend to enjoy more during the summer months are those with a bit more substance.  These releases typically come out of left field and tend to play at local art houses instead of multi screen cineplexes.
Years past have brought such fine movies as the Oscar nominated Beasts of the Southern Wild, the incredible documentary The Cove, the marvelous Beginners, and the chilling Winters Bone.
Looking ahead I’m not sure what offerings will be out there this summer but that doesn’t bother me.  I have very rarely known until the flick is about to be released.  (However I do know and am excited for the third entry in the Before Sunrise & Before Sunset movies entitled Before Midnight. I do know it has a limited release date of mid May and hope it will be around my area before the summer blockbusters are over shadowed by the autumn Oscar contenders).
Good times lay ahead movie goers and I eagerly await them.
As I have said in the past, will continue to say in the future, I once again say now I do enjoy the movies and they are made better with company.  If you want to go see a flick and want some company just ask and I will appear.
